• Custom Garter Spotlight: McKeely Borger's Ballerina Slipper Garter Set

This year has been such an incredible year in regards to custom work. Honestly, it seems that every year brings us even more exciting opportunities for custom wedding garters, and this certainly WAS the case with La Gartier bride McKeely Borger's custom garter set! The back story: McKeely is a professional ballerina with an exclusive dance company in Canada, and she has been dancing all over the world for the past ten years. When she originally contacted us about commissioning a custom garter set for her wedding, I immediately asked about her ballet slippers. Truth fast: I have always wanted to create a custom garter set using a pair of authentic ballerina pointe shoes, and it seems that McKeely entrance into our company life made that dream come true!!! For Mckeely's set, we used our gorgeous Galia garter as the base as well as our beloved Venus Pearl garter. Then, to make them even more special, we extracted tiny pearls from her mother's wedding dress and hand-sewed them (along with ivory bone hued sequins!) along the midline of her garter!
This is, perhaps, my favorite photo of McKeely's bespoke garter set. Do you see the lovely light pink satin that we used for her back up toss garter? This ribbon was taken directly from McKeely's pointe shoes!
Another gorgeous angle of all three of her garters: one to keep, one to call a "toss" but not toss, and one to actually toss.
For McKeely's "something blue", we extracted a tiny blue infinity symbol from an heirloom pillow case that belonged to McKeely's great grandmother! It took great concentration and attention-to-detail in order to extract this embroidered roping motif from the pillow case, but it was SO WORTH IT. I am obsessed with this tiny detail and the never-ending, love-you-to-infinty-and-beyond symbolism that it embodies!
Last, but not least, here is a picture of La Gartier bride McKeely Borger herself, wearing her darling light pink ballerina pointe shoes that so lovingly painted our entire November! Dear McKeely, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for bringing this project to our doorstep! You were a delight to work with and we hope to stay in touch for years to come!
