    How Many Garters Should I Wear On My Wedding Day? One or Two?

    This must feel like a whole new world for you. Yesterday, you were shopping for cute date-night outfits and now you are knee-deep in the world of bridal.
    <Insert: "Toto, I've a feeling we aren't in Kansas anymore" quote here> 
     I don't know who needs to hear this, but you are not alone. Whatever you do, don't assume that it's just you. Literally the only people in the world who enter the ultra-girly-world-of-bridal with prior knowledge are, well, people like me who have lived and breathed it for ten years. 
    So, when it comes to garter questions, sit back and let me do all of the shopping for you honey. 
    Today's question: do I wear one or two garters? 
    Today's answer: It's honestly whatever you want. I know that that's not what you wanted to hear, but really, there are no rules to this thing. In fact, I've actually worked with brides in the past who have worn three garters before. (See photo below.)

    Ok, even I'll admit: three is a little excessive but honestly look HOW GOOD IT LOOKS. 
    But for clarity purposes, let me break it down for you: usually, a bride will purchase two garters if she is planning on doing the garter toss. Then, she tosses the one that isn't too fancy during her reception and keeps the one she can't get enough of as an heirloom accessory.

    Personalized Wedding Garter Spotlight: A Custom Wedding Garter Made Using La Gartier Bride Allie Mallon's Mother's Dress Fabric

    Don't tell anyone, but we haven't blogged about our custom garter designs in almost a year. I am so embarrassed. 2021 was such a busy year for us, that we hardly had any time to sit down and write about our favorite custom designs that we produced between the months of January to December. However, today is a gorgeous (albeit cold) January day in 2022, and I figure it's better late than never. 
    Last January, we had the pleasure of meeting a bride named Allie Mallon, who asked us to create a garter for her using her mother's dress material. (Fun fact: her mother actually wanted her to wear her vintage dress on her
    wedding day, but Allie wasn't so hot on that idea. Instead, she compromised with her mother and told her that she would incorporate the lace from her gown into her wedding garter...and hire us to do it.)

    After an initial phone consultation, Allie was fast to ship us an entire box of fabric from her mother's wedding gown, which she expertly extracted herself! We then set to work transforming the lace from her mom's gown (as well as a little baggie of pearl embellishments) into a wedding garter set. Interested to see how beautifully it came out?     Do you see all of those tiny ivory pearls scattered across her toss garter? These pearls were taken from her mom's dress and carefully hand-sewn onto her toss garter. The sunset charm at the center was included to symbolize Allie's favorite relationship past time: watching the sunset with her fiance.

There is just something about high-end lace, isn't there? It lends the whole design an element of expensiveness that you just can't get with lower-end laces.

    Humble Brag or Just A Full Blown Brag Moment? Seven Celebrities Who Have Worn La Gartier Wedding Garters

    Truth fast: It's honestly not in my nature to brag about which high-profile clients have worn our garters. It just feels weird to me. Why? Because I honestly believe that every single one of our brides...really anyone who has purchased a La Gartier garter over the past ten years is a truly special human being. Our clients are like angels to me. Just because one or two or three of them is more highly-recognizable than another, doesn't necessarily make her more special to us as a company. ALL OF OUR CLIENTS ARE SUPER SPECIAL TO US.
    But, alas, we are living in a celebrity culture unlike anything known to American history....and because I know for a fact that people google "Celebrity Wedding Garter" when trying to locate our products, I am sitting down today to write an entire blog dedicated to our past celebrity clients. That way, people can find us when they set off on their google hunt. Yep. I just admitted that. It's all about that SEO folks. 
    Below are six celebrities who have worn La Gartier on their wedding day! Let's start with the very first one!

    1. Singer/Actress Jamie Lynn Spears 
    Jamie Lynn Spears was married on March 14th, of 2014 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She wore our beloved Joy garter on her wedding day....which I would be more than happy to include here other than the fact that we don't carry it anymore. It was in our collection for four years, but we decided to transition it out in 2019 to make room for newer styles. Full transparency: Jamie Lynn did not come to us directly for her garter. She was actually shopping at I Do Bridal Couture in Louisiana when she spotted our designs. I'll never forget the day that Ramsey Sims of I Do Bridal Couture called me and asked me to make something special for Jamie. To this day, I am filled with gratitude for Ramsey.  Being able to dress Jamie was a dream come true, no matter what the tabloids are saying at the moment. (Dear Jamie- I still love you! Who even really knows the real situation anyway?! Tell them to shut up. Ahem- excuse me.) 
    What I am trying to say is that being able to create a custom garter for THE JAMIE LYNN SPEARS was like a shot of entrepreneurial confidence for us in 2014..and to this day, I secretly hope to be able to make Britney's at some point. That aside, I'd like to take this moment to say thank you thank you thank you to Ramsey Sims for this opportunity!

    2. Supermodel Natalie Pack
    Natalie Pack, now known as Natalie Pack O'Connell, was married on July 21st, 2018 in Lake Como, Italy. To say that this wedding was classy would be a total understatement. But do you know what the craziest thing is? You would assume a supermodel might be a little stuck up or non-accessible. Natalie was the opposite. I can honestly say that she was one of the most down-to-earth, grounded celebrities whom we have ever worked for. Need proof? This incredibly gorgeous woman had only one request for her custom wedding garter set: that her dog be included. That happened. That really happened. Her garters included a special silver Vizla charm to represent her unbearably handsome dog- Fig!
    See? Isn't this just the cutest?! I die.

    Just one more because honestly I just love Fig. I love Natalie too. But I really just love that Fig. In fact, wait. Do you want to see real-life Fig?! I am going to interpret your silence as a hard yes.

    3. Gown Designer Hayley Paige 
    If you love the world of bridal, then you most likely know Hayley Paige. Creative, witty, and full of the best ideas, this California-bred creative has designed some of the last decade's most creative wedding gowns. She was married in Lake Tahoe on July 11, 2015. Her nuptials were distinctly fairytale in nature, and we had the honor of designer 4 different unicorn-inspired wedding garter for her.     Now that is what I call a magical wedding garter set. A big thank you to Hayley for...well, just about everything but mainly the inspiration that you have sent my way for years and years.

    (Side note: this garter set was for Hayley's first wedding years ago. I know that she was divorced. You don't have to mention that. In fact, for Hayley's sake, let's just leave that aside for the moment.  I've met Danny and I've met Conrad. Both of them seem to be incredible people. Please don't make me choose sides. I support HP in her decisions. There. I said it.

    Do you remember that movie Pitch Perfect? Or do you remember Pitch Perfect 2?

    Pretty sure I just heard someone say aca-of-course. Or maybe you sang it to me. 
    Well, if you have not lived under a rock over the past ten years, then you are most likely familiar with this super hilarious cult-classic. More to the point, you have most likely fallen in love with it's lead actress Anna Camp. Anna has starred in quite a few other films, but Pitch Perfect still stands to be her most beloved production to date. In September of 2013, Anna married her Pitch Perfect co-star Skylar Austin..and we are still so thrilled to call her one of our clients!  My favorite part? Her garters included a little charm that read "Partners In Crime." See photo below!

I'll never forget the day it came out. I was hiking the Sand Dunes in Southern Colorado without service for five hours. When I got back to the car, I opened up my phone to 1,065 new instagram followers. I started screaming with joy. My boyfriend was scared. 
    Ok, let's move onto a lil' reality television.

    5. Real Housewives of Atlanta Star Kandi Burruss
    This one sits near and dear to my heart simply because we are based right here in Atlanta. I have had the opportunity to meet Kandi on multiple occasions. She is a wonderful woman. Beyond that, she owns the cutest little clothing boutique on Peachtree Street called TAGS that I can't get enough of. To be able to say that she wore our Aurora garter on her wedding day is something that I'll treasure forever. Here is a photo of her now-husband taking her La Gartier garter off of her leg during her wedding reception! This moment was captured on national television as apart of the RHOA show and I feel so grateful every time I come across this specific episode. (Fun fact: last month we had the chance to work with yet another housewife! EEeep! ......But we can't say who it is yet. I'll be all over social with it soon though.)

    6. The Bachelor's Lauren Burnham Luyendyk
    Full confession: I don't watch The Bachelor. But if I did, I would only watch Lauren's season on repeat. Creating her wedding garter set was such a blast, that I will forever feel connected to this couple. Not only did we use elements of Arie's race suit within Lauren's garters, but we also paired her keepsake with our brand new, sparkling Venus Pearl garter. 
    Fun fact: I spent the days after Lauren's wedding digitally-fighting with People Magazine and other stupid publications because they didn't credit us in any of her photos. Literally, her garters were the first thing that they covered in her hard-copy feature in People Magazine! No joke. It was labelled "number one"! But no mention of who made it. 
    It was an utter mess (and when I say "it" I mean me) ...... and something that I regret to this day. But honestly-- it was infuriating. Magazine after magazine after show after show after post after post were talking all about her garters and no one would say who made them. I don't know who needs to hear this, but don't do what I did and make a big stink about little things like that. 
    But it still makes me mad. I was literally crying my car in the Target parking lot. You should have seen it.

    7. Sabrina Bryan of The Cheetah Girls
    Last, but certainly not least, my heart bursts with pride when anyone mentions The Cheetah Girls. While I didn't watch this show while I was younger, a TON of my friends did and I can vividly recall Sabrina being their favorite. After Sabrina got in touch with us, I devoured season after season of The Cheetah Girls and quickly discovered why. The character of Dorinda on the show is an easy-to-love character. She is sassy, bubbly, and full of life. The most wonderful part to me was recognizing qualities in her character that Sabrina actually embodies in real life! I am not even kidding you-- this California-queen is one of the most positive and uplifting high-profile clients we have ever worked with. Did you know that she coaches and teaches dance in California on her days off? I seriously can't get enough of her. Creating her custom fairytale-inspired wedding garter set was a joy. And then the best thing happened! She used her garter last year as a baby headband! World, meet precious Comillia Monroe, who was featured by People Magazine just seven days after she was born! (That's more than me. I am currently at zero.)
