    1. The Daphne garter
The Daphne garter is infamous for being not only light-weight, but for also laying extremely flat against the leg. And while she may be small, she is definitely not a design that goes unnoticed. As you can see in the photos above, the front band is primarily comprised of tiny sparkling swarovski crystal rhinestones.  Blooming from within the sparkling band are dozens of dainty, daisy-like white flowers (made of a soft acrylic that will bend and mold to the touch.) 🌸  The best part? We added 12 tiny swarovski crystal rhinestones to the middle parts of the flowers, ensuring that your "touch of sparkle" is visible from both the outside and the inside of the band. ✨ Interested to see more? • How Many Garters Should I Wear On My Wedding Day? One or Two?

This must feel like a whole new world for you. Yesterday, you were shopping for cute date-night outfits and now you are knee-deep in the world of bridal.
    <Insert: "Toto, I've a feeling we aren't in Kansas anymore" quote here>
I don't know who needs to hear this, but you are not alone. Whatever you do, don't assume that it's just you. Literally the only people in the world who enter the ultra-girly-world-of-bridal with prior knowledge are, well, people like me who have lived and breathed it for ten years.
So, when it comes to garter questions, sit back and let me do all of the shopping for you honey.
Today's question: do I wear one or two garters?
Today's answer: It's honestly whatever you want. I know that that's not what you wanted to hear, but really, there are no rules to this thing. In fact, I've actually worked with brides in the past who have worn three garters before. (See photo below.)
how many wedding garters do i wear on. my wedding day?
Ok, even I'll admit: three is a little excessive but honestly look HOW GOOD IT LOOKS.
But for clarity purposes, let me break it down for you: usually, a bride will purchase two garters if she is planning on doing the garter toss. Then, she tosses the one that isn't too fancy during her reception and keeps the one she can't get enough of as an heirloom accessory.
If you are planning on doing the garter toss, then check out how pretty
two garters look together when worn!

Above is one of our past brides, Sabrina Bryan from The Cheetah Girls, wearing both of her La Gartier garters under her gown on her wedding day. She actually ended up keeping both of these gorgeous designs and not tossing either of them. Still, if you are definitely NOT planning  on doing the garter toss, you can easily get away with purchasing just one garter. If that's the case, your leg styles will look a little like this. (Keep scrolling.)

If you decide to wear just one garter on your wedding day, then I say make it count.
That is, find a garter that truly speaks to who you are as a person and rock it like BEYONCE. The best part? You are already at the best place for finding a garter that is so uniquely you, you'll wonder why you didn't know about it sooner. Click here to find your spirit garter. • Personalized Wedding Garter Spotlight: A Custom Wedding Garter Made Using La Gartier Bride Allie Mallon's Mother's Dress Fabric

Don't tell anyone, but we haven't blogged about our custom garter designs in almost a year. I am so embarrassed. 2021 was such a busy year for us, that we hardly had any time to sit down and write about our favorite custom designs that we produced between the months of January to December. However, today is a gorgeous (albeit cold) January day in 2022, and I figure it's better late than never.
Last January, we had the pleasure of meeting a bride named Allie Mallon, who asked us to create a garter for her using her mother's dress material. (Fun fact: her mother actually wanted her to wear her vintage dress on her
wedding day, but Allie wasn't so hot on that idea. Instead, she compromised with her mother and told her that she would incorporate the lace from her gown into her wedding garter...and hire us to do it.)
Interested to see what her mom's gown looked like? See the photo below to see Allie and her mother together. On the left is Allie wearing her mom's 1980s wedding gown.

After an initial phone consultation, Allie was fast to ship us an entire box of fabric from her mother's wedding gown, which she expertly extracted herself! We then set to work transforming the lace from her mom's gown (as well as a little baggie of pearl embellishments) into a wedding garter set. Interested to see how beautifully it came out? Keep scrolling down!

Do you see all of those tiny ivory pearls scattered across her toss garter? These pearls were taken from her mom's dress and carefully hand-sewn onto her toss garter. The sunset charm at the center was included to symbolize Allie's favorite relationship past time: watching the sunset with her fiance.

A side view of Allie's custom wedding garters. Here, you can see the vintage heirloom lace from her mother's gown that we used to create the back band for her keepsake garter. There is just something about high-end lace, isn't there? It lends the whole design an element of expensiveness that you just can't get with lower-end laces.

A close up view of Allie's sunset charm, added to symbolize the number one activity that she and her soon-to-be-hubby love to do together: watch sunsets. Also, how darling are those little tiny ivory pearls taken from her mom's dress??

This wedding garter set was so fun to make for Allie. Sometimes, it blows my mind to be trusted with such love-filled, precious materials like her mom's dress. Dear Allie, from me to you: thank you for trusting us with such a monumental project. I will literally never forget the romance of this project.

  • 5 Uses For Your Wedding Garter Beyond The Garter Toss

Last week, I was scrolling through instagram and saw a story on the Bella Belle Shoes page that asked "What Things Will You Definitely NOT being doing on your wedding day?"
I immediately sat up. I just knew that the garter toss was going to be listed over and over again, further tarnishing the reputation of wedding garters irreparably.
As I clicked through to the following stories, sure enough-- there it was listed at the top. One bride wrote "The Garter Toss! So not cute! My parents would die!"
On the next story, there was an entire paragraph from one bride who went on and one about why she wasn't going to do the garter toss and how out-dated it was.
Guys. I get it. Seriously, I do. To be completely honest, I am not a huge fan myself of the garter toss photos that we get back from our brides where the groom's head is up the skirt of our brides' gowns. For one thing, it isn't a flattering angle of the dress. And secondly, you can rarely ever even see the garter she is wearing in the photos.
But here is what irks me: the wedding garter has so many more uses than for just that part of your wedding day!
If you want to do the garter toss, then that is one hundred percent fine!  But if you don't, then please hear me out: There are five different super special reasons that you want to have a wedding garter that you might not even know about. Let's take a look at them here:
    wedding garter toss
    1. The Wedding Garter is the Ultimate Heirloom Accessory
When it comes to accessories that you are going to cherish and potentially past down through generations, there is nothing so perfect as your wedding garter. Your veil is a close second, but the garter reins supreme. Tons of our brides purchase a garter from us with the intention of showcasing it for years to come in a glass box in their home, and then passing it down to their future daughter or loved one. And honestly- it makes perfect sense. Your garter (if they are ours) are a tiny, perfect expression of your personality and the essence of your wedding day style. The chances that it will fit a future loved one are high due to the fact that wedding garters are a one-size-fits-most accessory. When it comes to the question of tossing your garter or not tossing your garter, I am completely neutral. However, when it comes to the question of having a garter that you can have as a gorgeous heirloom that you can pass down through generations, I am a passionate YES GIRL.

    2. The Wedding Garter is a Must-Have For Your Getting Ready Photos
Ok, so have you ever seen a picture of a bride getting ready- wearing a gorgeous bridal robe with a garter? It's pure beauty. The addition of a wedding garter completely glamorizes your getting-ready-outfit! I know this for a fact because I have seen so many of our brides send us pictures after their wedding day. There is just something so Beyonce-worthy about a bride wearing her garter as she sits crossed legged, getting her make up done, her hair up in curlers or whatever it may be. I swear, it's almost like the garter makes our brides look more like a Victoria's Secret Angel as they get ready, even if the room is a total mess behind them. (Case in point: the gorgeous photo at the top of this blog! This is Manuela Arbelaez, one of the models on The Price Is Right, wearing her custom La Gartier garter while she is getting ready for her wedding! I mean, can someone say beautiful?!  Also, check out the photo below of The Bachelor's Nikki Ferrell wearing her opalescent Athena garter as she sits pretty, preparing for her wedding ceremony!

Now just imagine what this would look like without a garter. Not as good, right? My point exactly. Ok, rant over. Let's look at my favorite reason you want a La Gartier garter beyond the purposes of just the garter toss....

    3. The Wedding Garter Can Be Used As A Baby Headband After Your Wedding
In recent years, our clients have started to re-purpose their wedding garters as baby headbands. (Mic Drop) I mean, can someone say genius?! The photo above was featured by People Magazine after one of our past beloved clients, Sabrina Bryan of The Cheetah Girls, had a precious baby girl named Comillia Monroe. To this day, we treasure this photo. Truth fast: we have dozens and dozens of these photos from our clients that are equally heart-warming. I wish I could post all of them here, but I know you are eager to get to the fourth reason wedding garters are incredible beyond just the garter toss. Let's take a look at the next one below!

    4. The Wedding Garter Is A Perfect Addition To Your Pre-Wedding Bridal Boudoir Shoot
Are you planning on doing a boudoir shoot before the wedding? Say yes say yes say yes. If so, you might consider wearing a garter along with your super sexy bridal boudoir ensemble. While it is a small detail, it is a powerful one. And if you are looking to blow your look out-of-the-water, I would strongly suggest NOT going without one. Need proof? Here are a few additional photos of our clients wearing their beloved La Gartier Garters during their pre-wedding boudoir shoots!

I mean honestly-- could this boudoir outfit get any more HOT? And how perfect is her Marilyn garter with her lingerie?! This is why you want one. Forget about the garter toss. Who cares. Not me.

Last one. Promise. This photo is one of my all-time favorites. Here, blogger Harrison Sapp wears our iconic Florentine garter along with a For Love And Lemons lingerie set that people search the world for on Poshmark. I repeat: there are so many other reasons you want a wedding garter beyond JUST the garter toss. I mean, how sexy is this photo?!
Not planning on doing a boudoir shoot? No problem. We still have one more reason you want a wedding garter for your big day! Keep scrolling below...

    5. The Wedding Garter Will Make Your Wedding Details Photos Look Even Better
This one is huge. This one is big. When it comes to those special little flat-lays that include your shoes, your rings, your earrings, and perhaps your invitations, you don't want to miss out on the inclusion of your garter. Instead of talking you into it verbally, I am going to show you why garters make such an excellent addition to any and all wedding details photos. Are you ready for this?! Keep scrolling down.

So, if you decide that you hate the garter toss, then I understand. I do. But please don't give up on the idea of the wedding garter altogether. If there is one thing that I can tell you for sure, it's that there are so many other fantastic reasons to have one other than the little garter removal tradition that it has so wrenchingly become known for. And would you believe me if I told you that there are even more reasons than just the one listed above? It's true. If you need more convincing, then we are here for it. Simply email us at hello@lagartier.com and we'll be happy to give you an ear full. Until then, I hope that this helps you make your decision. Love you. Mean it.

If you are looking for a super gorgeous, sparkling wedding garter that speaks to your special relationship story, then you have come to the right place! Keep reading below to learn all about our newest design: The Ever After Wedding Garter.

    happily ever after wedding garter

Where do we start?? This garter is so magical, that we need at least a paragraph to describe its multi-dimensional components! 💎  First, a little back story: When creating this garter, the first feature that we knew that we wanted to include was tons of sparkle, a distinct 3-D floral element and a distinct "princess blue" color. 💙
    happily ever after wedding garter
As you can see in the photos above, the front band is primarily comprised of clear, sparkling pear-shaped swarovski crystals. ✨  Blooming from within the sparkling band are exactly five flowers: three blue (made of a soft acrylic and a rhinestone detail at the center of each flower) as well as two white flowers (made of gauzy, ethereal organza with a pearl detail at the center.) 🌸
    happily ever after wedding garter
The best part? The inside of the back band is embroidered with the words "Happily Ever After" in princess blue. (something blue? check and check✔️✔️) Other details to note: the back band is created using a lace overlay on the outside which can be admired from behind you was you walk down the aisle or dance the night away on the dance floor). The back band also features 15 sparkling swarovski crystal rhinestone embellishments. (hand-placed for extra sparkle.) ✨
