  • The Glass Slipper Garter A.K.A. the Cinderella Wedding Garter

She's finally here. Our newest limited-edition, The Cinderella Garter, has finally landed. I cannot put into words how much this garter means to me personally. It has been incubating in my imagination for over three years, but we didn't take the first steps towards bringing it to fruition until October of 2019. Since then, it has been ALL I have worked on when I am not working on fulfilling client orders. This design took an interesting twist about one month ago: we released photos of it on Cyber Monday and then realized that it still wasn't quite as Cinderella as it could be. So, we retracted the photos, brought it back to the drawing board, and re-designed it once again. Believe me when I tell you that blood, sweat, and tears have gone into the creation of this design. It is with a momma proud heart that I say IT IS FINALLY HERE AND IT IS HAS FINALLY REACHED IT'S FULL POTENTIAL.
    CINDERELLA WEDDING GARTER

This garter was designed for the bride who absolutely adores Cinderella.

Every detail of this garter was inspired by the bride who adores animals and is well-known for her compassionate nature. More likely than not, this bride is not a very loud person. In fact, she might be one of the quietest people at a party, but she is known for carrying herself with a grace that is unparalleled. Anyone who knows this bride is well aware of the fact that she believes deeply in acts of service, whether it be volunteering to help abandoned animals or assisting the elderly who have become too old to be able to care for themselves anymore. With love and a strong sense of humanity in mind, we created this garter for the bride who is highly in tune with the needs of the people in just about any environment that she finds herself in. We repeat: She is a person who cannot help but LOVING other living things - no matter what their size, shape, color, or origin.

From her everyday outfits to the quality of her eye contact, everything she does exudes humility. Those who are not wise interpret her kindness for weakness, however those who know better can see that this is not the case. To put it simply, foolish people feel sorry for her and the wise admire her. But make no mistake about it, the Glass Slipper bride is not weak. On the contrary, she views kindness as strength and carries a strong conviction that kindness + courage are the two of the most important things in the world.

It is very possible that this bride has suffered abuse or neglect from her family. But do you know what else is possible? That she endured this suffering, learned from it, and through her incredible resilience became an even better person. More likely than not, she will be saying "I Do" surrounded by only those whom she truly trusts.

Please note: if you are a person who does not like animal or who someone who strongly believes in the power of revenge, then this garter is not for you.

     .

This front of this garter is made using a beautiful mixture of sparkling iridescent, clear, and blue opal rhinestones. At the center of the design is one crystal tiara pendant with silver-set detailing. If you look at the back side, you will notice that the outside is made of a glistening, Cinderella blue organza fabric, reminiscent of Cinderella's iconic blue ballgown. For a touch of sparkle, you will see that hand-placed twenty sparkling swarovski rhinestones along the back band. Our favorite part? The inside of the band is embroidered with the phrase "Have Courage and Be Strong" in the same signature Cinderella Blue that the back band features.  Please note: this is a limited-edition design. We currently have only 18 of these in stock. (as of January 10th, 2020)

  • A Vintage Locket & Opal Wedding Garter For La Gartier bride Victoria Henderson

As June comes to a close, so does all of our June customizations. This month, I worked with three different brides to create 3 completely unique wedding garters sets. While I don't usually play favorites, I have to say that June's "winning" custom garter design is La Gartier bride Victoria Henderson's vintage locket and opal garter set. (see photos  and captions below!)
When Victoria contacted us last March to book her custom garter, she told me that she wanted something that matched her gown as well as the beading on her sash. I agreed to take on her customization immediately, expecting it to turn out just like her gown.......... but her garters ended up being SO MUCH MORE!! Here are just a few photos of Victoria's garter set along with some written info about my favorite designs elements:

    vintage locket wedding garter

The rose gold locket at the center of her toss is an original antique that Victoria and I stumbled across on Etsy. We just about died when we found this one because "M" is the first initial of her fiancé' name: Montana. We weren't even looking for an engraved locket, let alone one engraved with an "M"....but it's my personal opinion that this BEAUTY found its way to us for the creation of her garters. Meant to be? Yes, yes and yes!

    vintage locket wedding garter

The pink velvet ribbon on her toss garter was chosen to match her bridesmaids dresses as well as the slight blush pink tone of her Enzoani bridal gown. Also, the opal and rhinestone beading on her keepsake matches the beading on her sash, but not so matchy matchy that it's obnoxious.

    something blue embroidered garter

Her wedding date and initials are embroidered on the inside of her garter in navy blue to match her groomsmens tuxes. (This means that Victoria has not only one but two "something blues" for her wedding day!)

Because Victoria didn't want to toss her vintage "M" locket garter, we created this amazing "G" inspired toss for her. That way, she could keep the vintage locket design and still do the garter toss. (G is the first letter of her new last name! So appropriate, right?!)

The only thing not pictured here is all of the beautiful custom packaging that we created when we packed up her garters to be shipped!!  Also not pictured here is the look on her daughter's face 30 years from now when Victoria gives her one or both of these garters for her very own wedding day!! <insert happy tears emoji>
Victoria, I can't wait to hear about what you decide to put into the locket. Knowing how much you love florals and greenery, I have a feeling it will be something organic from your wedding day but anything you decide will most likely be beyond gorgeous!
If you love these photos as much as we do and would like to speak with someone about having a custom garter made for yourself or someone whom you love, then please feel free to contact us via email at info@lagartier.com OR you can use the contact form by clicking here. Happy La Gartier everyone!
  • Published! Our Hayley Paige Opal Wedding Garter Featured on Elizabeth Anne Designs!

There is nothing like starting a new work week with a brand new feature on one of the most popular wedding blogs in America. Seriously, if I had to pick between a brand new pair of Louboutins and a press feature as lovely as this, I would pick the press every single time. Suffice to say, I knew that this week was off to a great start when the uber-well-known wedding blog Elizabeth Anne Designs published a styled shoot that we participated in last month at Foxhall Resort.

The inspiration for the day was Classic Southern Romance...and I am not lying when I tell you that every detail that day was dripping with classic Southern charm!! Below are photos from the shoot, including my two favorites: the photos that show off our opal Hayley garter alongside Jimmy Choo's "Luna" heels. (gotta love a pair of sparkle heels that are inspired by the night sky!)

Below are photos from this peachy, over-the-top romantic styled shoot that just made our Monday feel like Christmas as well as a little bit about the shoot itself! Happy La Gartier everyone!

"Nestled approximately 30 minutes, but a world away, from downtown Atlanta is Foxhall Resort, and the tranquil setting provided a perfect backdrop for this classic and romantic inspiration shoot designed by Evermore Weddings & Events. A palette of slate blue, blush, peach, and green created a soft but elegant ambiance, and a blush Hayley Paige gown stole the show! Hacman Floral created a showstopping pastel bouquet to accompany the bridal look, which featured soft, modern hair and makeup from Elizabeth Sloan Beauty. The result is an absolute fairy tale! Beautiful details such as a rounded ceremony altar, elevated greenery centerpiece, and a custom peach cocktail by Lyght House Cocktails complete the scene. We are completely spellbound, as always, by the images from the incredibly talented Brandi of Alexis June Weddings!"

  • Custom Garter Spotlight: La Gartier Bride Alexandra Larson's Blush Pink Velvet and Rose Gold/Opal Custom Garter Set

With Mother's Day approaching, I can't think of a more meaninful gift to give to your mother than a wedding garter made out of the fabric from her wedding gown. It's pretty much the most touching thing that I can think of, even when it is not my mother or even my garter. Last month, I had the extreme pleasure of working with La Gartier bride Alexandra Larson, who requested that I create a custom garter set for her using her mother's wedding gown. (Full disclosure: at this point in our company's life, this is not an unusual request. Regardless, it always sets my heart on fire because of the deep significance of the fabric. Vintage gowns always surprise me with their unpredictable design elements, which means that I have no control over how the "feel" of the garter is going to come out. It's like creating a cuisine given a mystery box full of ingredients...and I live for the thrill of it.) But wait, here is the best part: Alexandra didn't want to cut into her mother's gown herself so she shipped me the ENTIRE gown when she booked her customization last January!!!! This means that I had the totally lovely benefit of staring at it for about three months while we waited for her scheduled customization month to arrive. (Fun fact: I actually pinned it to the studio wall above my computer so that I could stare at it everyday! Not surprisingly, vintage wedding gown make for incredible wall art.)
There are so many wonderful and truly meaningful details included within this garter set that I don't even know where to begin!! For her "something blue", Alexandra requested that the words "Let Go, Let God" be sewn into the inside of her garter, which made me delierious with sentiment. Also, because she and her fiance love going up to the mountains, we found a rose gold pendant online to place at the center of her toss garter (which she will, of course, never toss!!) Then, as if the set wasn't already special enough, we decided to create the back band of her keepsake garter using the satin dress fabric from her mother's gown!!! Below are pictures of the final product. To say that I ADORE this garter set is an understatement. If someone were to ask me to describe this garter in three short statements, I would probably have to pick:
    1. True heirloom Integrity
    2. Deeply Meaningful
    3. Irreplaceable
To be completely honest, I could probably write a five page paper on the utter specialness of this garter set, including how closely Alexandra and I worked together while creating it. But I know you all don't like uber-long blogs, so I'll keep it brief. If you are as interested in this garter as I am, then please feel free to mull over the photos below as much as you would like. And if you are determined to book your own La Gartier Custom garter, then feel free to contact us at info@lagartier.com. We are booked until August at the moment, but as long as you are not saying "I Do" until early September or anytime thereafter, then we would be honored to work with you.
    rose gold wedding garter
The front jeweled piece of Alexandra's garter was created using rose gold settings and beading. The stones were a mixture of clear rhinestones and opals. Swoon, right?
    mothers wedding dress garter
The back band on Alexandra's keepsake garter was made using the fabric from her mother's wedding dress. Do you see those tiny floral appliques that we hand-sewed on top of the band for a pretty 3-D floral affect? Those were once apart of the lace that lined the neckline of Alexandra's mothers' gown.
    mother's wedding dress garter
On the inside, printed in blue, was a signature statement of Alexandra's grandmother: "Let Go, Let God"
What a beautiful "something blue," right??!
    mountain inspired wedding garter
My favorite detail on Alexandra's toss garter was the rose gold mountain charm. It symbolizes where she and her soon-to-be-hubby spend a large part of their leisure time: in the mountains.  Alexandra was responsible for finding this little gem of a pendant. If you love it as much as I do, check out a company called Rudiana on Etsy. The shop is full of drop dead dainty items!
