When I first spoke with La Gartier bride Kayla Shudy on the phone, I instantly felt a connection to not only her as a person but also her story. I could tell that Kayla was sweet, honest, and lived her life with a full and open heart. As I listened to her talk, I sensed that her garters were going to be amazing-- and they were. By the time we had finished her phone consultation, I felt more determined than ever to create a wedding garter set for her that reflected not only her beautiful heart but also her story. Why? Well, I can write it down here in words but I don't feel that I will ever truly be able to convey the beauty of Kayla's custom wedding garter set. The back story: Kayla's mother passed away in 2011, shortly after meeting Kayla's soon-to-by hubby. When Kayla got engaged, she knew that she wanted to be able to have her mother with her in some way on her wedding day, but wasn't sure how. When she heard about our custom designs, she reached out and asked us if she could send us a sleeve from her mother's wedding dress so that we could use the fabric within her wedding garter design. (We call these designs "repurposed" wedding garter designs and I adore them with all of my creative being.)So, Kayla shipped us the sleeve to our Atlanta studio and we got to work right away. Little did I know that the garter set that would be born of our meeting would end up being one of the prettiest custom garters this side of the Mississippi. The elements of Kayla's design were so multi-layered and UNIQUE that I can't think of anything else to do but bullet-point them! Scroll through the photos below to learn more about deeply meaningful custom wedding garter set.The butterfly that you see at the center of Kayla's toss was special due to the fact that it was Kayla's mothers' favorite symbol. Not only that, but it also served as Kayla's "something blue."The best part? This locket was a vintage find, so it also serves as Kayla's "something old". I am literally dying to know what Kayla is going to decide to put inside the locket on her wedding day.The back band of Kayla's keepsake garter was embellished with dozens of tiny sequins and pearls that were taken from the sleeve of her mother's vintage wedding gown. *grabs tissues*I knew that Kayla was not going to want to toss her vintage butterfly locket garter, so I created a third REAL toss garter for her that featured a silver "O" charm at the center (which, as you can guess, is the first letter of her new last name.)La Gartier bride Kayla Shudy's wedding garters inside of our signature box. I have no words to describe how honored I feel to be a small part of such a significant day in Kayla's life. I can only hope that we made her mother proud.

Custom Garter Spotlight: La Gartier Bride Melanie Smith's Rose Gold and Air Force-Inspired Wedding Garter SetJust finished: La Gartier bride Melanie Smith's custom Air Force Wings & Rose Gold sparkle wedding garter set. Oh, did I mention black striped seersucker too? That too. This garter set was so incredible on so many different levels. I barely know where to begin. Here is the story behind what is possibly the prettiest Air Force-inspired wedding garter set EVER created: the wings that you see on Melanie's toss garter (that she will of course never actually toss!) were taken from her fiance Matt's actual Air Force uniform. (His wings protecting her as she walks down the aisle? I die.) Then, because Melanie's engagement ring is a stop-the-show-rose-gold-stunner, we decided to create her keepsake using a sparkling rose gold jeweled front piece, with a 3-D floral back band to compliment the floral-detailing on her gown. (I would tell you the name and designer of her gown, but then I might have to kill you.)My favorite part? For her "something blue" we included the latitude and longitude coordinates of her wedding venue in NOLA via navy blue embroidery. (Another nod to both Melanie's fiance's Air Force roots) ✈️✈️Lastly, to bring in a touch of Melanie's personal style (I did some creeping on her Instagram. Sorry, not sorry) we decided to use a black metallic sparkle seersucker fabric for the base of her toss garter. All in all, this set is a gem of originality. Melanie- I am bragging shamelessly for us both when I say that I am fairly certain that we just made the prettiest (and most preppy!) Air Force-inspired wedding garters to ever grace this great land of liberty. Working on this love-infused project with you fills me with pride for not only this beautiful garter set we made together, but also our gorgeous country in all its sparkling strength.Below are detailed photos of Melanie's unbelievably special wedding garter set! If you love this set as much as we do, then read the captions below each photo to learn more about the details that make this design so meaningful!! Interested in a custom garter set of your own?? You can contact us by clicking here. The rose gold detailing on the front of Melanie's keepsake garter matches her unbelievably pretty rose gold-set diamond engagement ring.I know that is is hard to tell in this photo- but the latitude and longitude coordinates that we included on the inside of Melanie's keepsake garter were done in a deep navy blue, thereby allowing Melanie to check off her "something blue" in a unique and totally original way. These coordinates correspond to her wedding venue in NOLA. Can someone say meaningful?!?The wings on Melanie's toss garter are real. They were taken by Melanie (on the sly...while her fiance wasn't looking) and mailed to our studios here in Atlanta. I literally tear up at the thought of Melanie's daughter wearing this garter down the aisle in 20 or 30 years, protected by her father's wings and her mother's love. The seersucker that we used on her toss garter was such a delight to work with! In fact, it has given us an idea for our winter limited edition garter that we have a feeling you all are going to love! Stay tuned!

As June comes to a close, so does all of our June customizations. This month, I worked with three different brides to create 3 completely unique wedding garters sets. While I don't usually play favorites, I have to say that June's "winning" custom garter design is La Gartier bride Victoria Henderson's vintage locket and opal garter set. (see photos and captions below!)When Victoria contacted us last March to book her custom garter, she told me that she wanted something that matched her gown as well as the beading on her sash. I agreed to take on her customization immediately, expecting it to turn out just like her gown.......... but her garters ended up being SO MUCH MORE!! Here are just a few photos of Victoria's garter set along with some written info about my favorite designs elements:
The rose gold locket at the center of her toss is an original antique that Victoria and I stumbled across on Etsy. We just about died when we found this one because "M" is the first initial of her fiancé' name: Montana. We weren't even looking for an engraved locket, let alone one engraved with an "M"....but it's my personal opinion that this BEAUTY found its way to us for the creation of her garters. Meant to be? Yes, yes and yes!
The pink velvet ribbon on her toss garter was chosen to match her bridesmaids dresses as well as the slight blush pink tone of her Enzoani bridal gown. Also, the opal and rhinestone beading on her keepsake matches the beading on her sash, but not so matchy matchy that it's obnoxious. Her wedding date and initials are embroidered on the inside of her garter in navy blue to match her groomsmens tuxes. (This means that Victoria has not only one but two "something blues" for her wedding day!)Because Victoria didn't want to toss her vintage "M" locket garter, we created this amazing "G" inspired toss for her. That way, she could keep the vintage locket design and still do the garter toss. (G is the first letter of her new last name! So appropriate, right?!)
The only thing not pictured here is all of the beautiful custom packaging that we created when we packed up her garters to be shipped!! Also not pictured here is the look on her daughter's face 30 years from now when Victoria gives her one or both of these garters for her very own wedding day!! <insert happy tears emoji>Victoria, I can't wait to hear about what you decide to put into the locket. Knowing how much you love florals and greenery, I have a feeling it will be something organic from your wedding day but anything you decide will most likely be beyond gorgeous! If you love these photos as much as we do and would like to speak with someone about having a custom garter made for yourself or someone whom you love, then please feel free to contact us via email at email@example.com OR you can use the contact form by clicking here. Happy La Gartier everyone!

La Gartier bride Kelly Lane Mangum had a stunning wedding in Atlanta, Georgia at the beginning of June. How do I know for sure? Because I was there!! I met Kelly through the Atlanta wedding industry years ago as she is a highly sought after event/wedding photographer in ATL......and on June 3rd, I had the pleasure of attending her insanely chic nuptials. Just imagine a helipad, a 365 degree view of the Atlanta skyline, gorgeous black and white decor, plus one of the prettiest Hayley Paige gown in the world. (Full disclosure: I say that about every Hayley Paige gown!) In short, Kelly's wedding was the epitome of what you think of when you think of a urban-chic wedding. However, as a guest, I was privy to more than just how things looked from the outside. That is, I was witness to a wedding that was not only pretty on the outside but also warm, romantic and full of love on the inside. Seriously, I couldn't stop crying during the ceremony. And I'm not talking about light, pat-at-your-eyes-with-a-napkin crying. I'm talking about downright Kim K. ugly crying. No joke, I don't even know how I became that emotional in public. Perhaps I have grown closer to Kelly than I realized. I did, after all, create her gorgeous wedding garter for her. (see photos below)For Kelly's garter, I created a custom version of our Florentine garter, complete with "something blue" embroidery on the inside, commemorating the date of Kelly's wedding on the inner part of her garter. Then, to make it even more special, I created an all black satin toss garter for her, with a very special silver and gold cross pendant at the center. Why might you ask? Because Kelly and Michael met in youth group over eight years ago!!! And perhaps more importantly, because faith is an absolutely paramount ingredient within their relationship.Dear Kelly, thank you from the bottom of my heart for inviting me to your wedding!!! (#loveyou #meanit)Creating your custom "Florentine Faith" garter set was an absolute blast!Side note: If you love these photos as much as we do and would like to speak with someone about having a custom garter made for yourself or someone whom you love, then please feel free to contact us via email at firstname.lastname@example.org OR you can use the contact form by clicking here. Happy La Gartier everyone!La Gartier bride Kelly Lane Mangum's wedding garters photographed by Milanes PhotographyKelly's toss garter had a gold and silver cross at the center to represent the one thing that matters most in her relationship: faithMy favorite part?
