  • Jimmy Choo's Luna heels with our limited edition iridescent rhinestone "Sydney" garter

If Jimmy Choo were in a boxing ring with Christian Louboutin or Guiseppe Zanotti, I would bet on Jimmy Choo everytime. Wait. Actually, I take that back. If Jimmy Choo were in a boxing ring with Christian Louboutin and Guiseppe Zanotti, I would bet my money on Jimmy Choo everytime.
(Side thought: think scrawny but scrappy Englishman named Jimmy in a ring against two men that are larger than him-- one is a beret-wearing Parisian artist named Christian  and the other is a hefty, linguini-obsessed Italian named Guiseppe Zanotti. Yeah. I would still bet on Jimmy.)
Suffice to say, Jimmy Choo is my favorite designer of luxury bridal shoes...and not just because I think that they are the prettiest. I also have heard that they are the most comfortable from many of my MRS. friends and clients.
So, you can imagine my utter joy last month when photographer Brandi Schaffran-Webb of Alexis June Weddings sent me over a dozen photos of our new "Sydney" garter paired next to Jimmy Choo's new "Luna" heels!!! The Luna heels are one of my favorites on the market at the moment because they are inspired by the night sky, which is exactly what Hayley Paige's recent collection personifies. In fact, I love this motif so much that we recently released a limited-edition garter called the "Sydney" (see pics below) which was inspired by something I call "Galactic Glam" (think of the same night sky, celestial romance, star-chic look that both Hayley P. and Jimmy Choo are channelling at the moment. Below are both photos of our phenomenal "Sydney" garter as well as Jimmy Choo's Luna heels. (a perfect and oh-so original "something blue" if I ever did see one. Hint hint)

  • Custom Garter Spotlight: La Gartier bride Stephanie Ming's NFL Jersey Wedding Garter

It's not everyday that you get a chance to cut up a real NFL jersey. Which is why I simply adored working with La Gartier bride Stephanie Ming last month! Stephanie married Levine Toilolo, who...if you love the Atlanta Falcons, is a name you are familiar with already.

Stephanie married Levine just two short weeks ago in sunny California and I am so happy to announce that she wore an incredible custom La Gartier garter on her wedding day. The back story: Stephanie gave me one of Levine's real jerseys to cut into and use within her custom garter design. Both her sparkling keepsake and toss garter are made using the jersey fabric as well as its remarkable NFL logo details. Then, to make the set even more personalized, we hung a single music symbol charm from the center of the toss garter to represent Stephanie's love of music. (Gotta love a music-worshipping Pisces!) The final product has turned out so special that I am already talking with a few potential clients about creating a similar jersey-inspired designs for them using other team jerseys! Dear Stephanie- making this for you was nothing short of amazing. As a woman with a TON of Atlanta-pride, I found making this for you heart-warming and downright ATL-patriotic.  I am SO happy we pulled this off in time! I feel honored to create something that you will have for decades to come. I'm not going to lie-- I really hope you will someday have a little girl in who will inherit this NFL heirloom love magic!!! ✨❤️️🏈

  • Custom Garter Spotlight: La Gartier Bride Madison McCoy's Heirloom Garter Re-Imagined

Last month, I had the extreme pleasure of working with a bride named Madison McCoy, who is basically an angel wrapped in cute athletic apparel.

Madison emailed me last August with the hope that I could remake her fiance's great grandmother's wedding garter. That's right-- great grandmother. Her request was so extraordinary that I feel compelled to show you just what Madison wrote to me that late summer day 8 months ago. Here is what she wrote:

"My fiancé's grandmother just passed away about a month ago. They were really close, and she was so special to both of us. Over the weekend, my fiancé's mother gave me something so special: the garter his grandmother wore on her wedding day, which was also the garter his grandfather's (who passed years ago) mother wore on her day. This thing is ancient, but the elasticity is still perfectly intact, which is amazing.

So, as you can probably guess, I am torn between what to do. My fiancé and I brainstormed, and he suggested I ask if there was any way you could recreate the garter for me and bring it to life with a La Gartier twist of sparkle and magic."
When I read Madison's email, my heart skipped a beat. I immediately asked her to send me photos of the original garter so that I could get an idea of what it looked like. Below are the photos for you to see:

This garter was ancient, and beautiful for just that reason. At first, I thought that Madison was asking me to take the heirloom garter and add new elements to it. But what she was asking was for me to create a new garter inspired by the heirloom garter, with a modern and sparkly twist. Seriously, I wouldn't have turned down this request for the world. The floral embellishments on the front of her fiance's great grandmother's garter were what really got me. I set to work shopping like the little fabric and embellishment junkie that I am and just 5 short months later, the new baby was born. Below are photos of Madison's revamped heirloom garter. Creating this beauty was an absolute dream!!! Talk about a meaningful "something blue"! Madison, if you are reading this, I want to take a moment to personally thank you for trusting me with such a meaningful project. I feel honored to have been asked to take on a task significant to your new family's lineage! 10,000 hugs to you!

  • Our Ivory Pearl and Rhinestone Wedding Garter is SOLD OUT

Sad fact: our ivory pearl toss garter is officially SOLD OUT for the month of April, however we will have it back in stock on May 10th. (see photos below for an idea of what our ivory pearl garter looks like!)
If you were planning on ordering this gorgeous pearly garter for your wedding day, we will cross our fingers that you can wait until May 10th to order. If not, we highly recommend our rhinestone toss garter, which is a design with TONS of sparkle but unfortunately no pearls. You can see our rhinestone toss garter by clicking here. In need of a garter that has pearls? Then you might consider our blue pearl toss garter that is designed just like the ivory pearl garter but with a double dose of "something blue." You can see our blue pearl garter by clicking here.
(Side note: we take great effort to make sure that we do not sell out of our most popular designs during wedding season. However, there are a few rare occasions when it happens. Instances like this make me cringe because I want nothing more than to be able to provide our brides with the products that they need, at the exact time that they need it. But alas, it happens every once and while which is why I always encourage our brides to order their garters at least three months before their wedding. That way, if we are sold out of something, you will only need to wait about one month for us to have it back in stock. Not satisfied? Email us at info@lagartier.com to see if you can pre-pay for your design in order to have first dibs on our new designs. Ok, rant over.)

  • How To Measure For Your Wedding Garter

If I had a penny for every time someone asked me how to measure for a wedding garter, I would be purchase something similar to the Titanic Diamond in order to make the most luxurious wedding garter ever created. It's a valid question because we so rarely ever have an occasion to measure our thigh. I mean, seriously, how many other upper-leg accessories have you worn in your life? So, without further adieu, below are my step-by-step instructions regarding how to measure your leg for your wedding garter, complete with a pretty visual guide.

how to measure for a wedding garter

First of all, I should tell you that there is no official rule for which leg you should pick for your garter. That is, you can wear it on whichever leg feels right to you. Personally, I like my left but perhaps it is because I am right-handed?? Who knows. What matters most is that you are comfortable, so pick whichever leg you want.
Then, take a fabric measuring tape (the cheap sewing kind that you can buy at the grocery store are fantastic) and measure about five to six inches from the top of your knee cap. This usually ends up being about mid-thigh.

Note: Don't pull the tape in too tight lest your measurement be smaller than it actually is. And don't leave it too loose either, or your measurement be too large. Wrap the tape so that it perfectly flush to your skin without any intense pulling or drooping.
Next: round up or down to the nearest whole inch. (No need to send us fractions ladies. The nearest whole inch will do just fine. You can thank the elastic on your garter for that one.)
And that's it! Once you have your measurement, please leave it in the "notes" section of your check out or email it to us at info@lagartier.com!
I know it's a hassle, but sending us your leg measurement ensures a perfect fit, which I have a feeling that you want. With garters this pretty and pricey, we definitely don't mind going the extra mile to custom make your garter to fit your leg as long as you don't mind taking the time to measure. Happy La Gartier everyone!
