Wedding Garters That Sparkle For Brides Who Sparkle

Ok, so I know that there is such a thing as National Puppy Day. And I know that there is such a thing as National Doughnut Day. There is even "National Hike With a Geek Day." (No joke. I'm totally serious. Google it. It exists.)

But does anyone know if there is a National Brides Who Sparkle Day?? If there isn't, then there should be. I will be the first to sign the petition. Because you know why? It would basically be a day dedicated to the women who wear our garters!! Seriously, La Gartier brides are the BEST. They are some of the kindest, brightest, most creative, well-mannered and talented women out there, including our recent bride Heather Black. Heather was kind enough to send us a link to her wedding gallery last Wednesday, and you should have seen my face when I first saw these beautiful photos. (I almost dropped my phone while I was standing in line at Starbucks! No joke!) What I love about these photos is that they show you how utterly classy wedding garters can be when worn with just the right thing, by a woman who exudes class and elegance. Sound like you? Custom Garter Spotlight: La Gartier Bride Carly Grace Hinchman's Pink and Opal Wedding Garter Set

If you live in Atlanta and you are even slightly apart of the fitness scene, then you most likely know Carly Grace Hinchman. She is known as the yoga barbie around town. She drives a pink jeep, wears the loudest yoga pants you can find and owns her own yoga studio - Thunderbolt Power Yoga -- in Buckhead. I had the pleasure of meeting Carly years ago when I first started practicing yoga and then again when both she and I were selected as Jezebel Magazine's 20 Most Eligible Atlantans. (2014 was crazy. Don't even get me started on what it was like to be called out as single in front of 70,000 readers.)

Fast forward to 2017 ---> Carly Grace is no longer receiving press for being an eligible bachelorette. No, instead she is receiving press for being one of the most sucessful new yoga studios in Atlanta and for being engaged!!! That's right-- Carly Grace is getting ready to walk down the aisle in just seven short days!! And I had the utter pleasure of being asked to create her wedding garters. As soon as she asked me, I knew immediately that the design should contain two essential signature "yoga barbie" elements:

1. The color pink

2. An adorable elephant charm

Why the elephant do you ask? On the walls of Carly's studio are two beautiful elephant murals (see photos below) that have come to symbolize Thunderbolt Power Yoga's playful & youthful allure, so I knew that her set needed to have an elephant on it is some way. I felt passionately convinced that it would be the perfect shout out to her favorite animal. So, I set to work with the shopping trips for the pink velvet and the elephant charm right away.

Carly chose our infamous Athena garter as her keepsake piece. For her toss (which she will most likely never toss!) we decided to use a light pink velvet fabric for the body, with a silver elephant charm at the center.

I can't tell which I like more-- the little iridescent rhinestone eye or the little carved heart on the rump!

On the inside of Carly's toss garter, we added her wedding hashtag #marryingmilyo in blue. She told me she cried when she saw this. Which leads me to a question-- why is it that embroidery is so.darn.powerful??

Her "something blue" was not only meaningful but also modern and hidden. I was actually dying to add the word "namaste" somewhere but we didn't have room!

I am all out of photos of her amazing wedding garters, but below are photos from her studio as well as a few unbelievably well-executed inversions. How To Measure For Your Wedding Garter

If I had a penny for every time someone asked me how to measure for a wedding garter, I would be purchase something similar to the Titanic Diamond in order to make the most luxurious wedding garter ever created. It's a valid question because we so rarely ever have an occasion to measure our thigh. I mean, seriously, how many other upper-leg accessories have you worn in your life? So, without further adieu, below are my step-by-step instructions regarding how to measure your leg for your wedding garter, complete with a pretty visual guide.

First of all, I should tell you that there is no official rule for which leg you should pick for your garter. That is, you can wear it on whichever leg feels right to you. Personally, I like my left but perhaps it is because I am right-handed?? Who knows. What matters most is that you are comfortable, so pick whichever leg you want.

Then, take a fabric measuring tape (the cheap sewing kind that you can buy at the grocery store are fantastic) and measure about five to six inches from the top of your knee cap. This usually ends up being about mid-thigh.

Note: Don't pull the tape in too tight lest your measurement be smaller than it actually is. And don't leave it too loose either, or your measurement be too large. Wrap the tape so that it perfectly flush to your skin without any intense pulling or drooping.

Next: round up or down to the nearest whole inch. (No need to send us fractions ladies. The nearest whole inch will do just fine. You can thank the elastic on your garter for that one.)

And that's it! Once you have your measurement, please leave it in the "notes" section of your check out or email it to us at info@lagartier.com!

I know it's a hassle, but sending us your leg measurement ensures a perfect fit, which I have a feeling that you want. With garters this pretty and pricey, we definitely don't mind going the extra mile to custom make your garter to fit your leg as long as you don't mind taking the time to measure. Unicorn Wedding Garters For the Magic Bride

New product alert!!!! As you know, every six months or so, we add new products to our collection. This February, we did just that. And not just any new products, but one that our customers have been requesting for over a year-- a unicorn-inspired wedding garter design. Personally, I couldn't be more excited for the release of uber-magical beauty!

Who is the unicorn garter for? The unicorn garter was created for the bride who loves all things magical. She may be a girly girl or she may be an introverted type who loves fantasy literature <insert tons of black eyeliner here> but one thing is for sure: she adores unicorns. In fact, I would be willing to bet 1 million dollars that she is marrying a man who also loves all thing sci-fi/fantasty related (but not as much as he loves her!)

The best part? This garter now has its own emoji thanks to bridal gown designer Hayley Paige. (see image below for a glimpse of this gorgeous illustrated beauty!) We actually designed a custom unicorn inspired wedding garter for Hayley in 2014, which is a large part of the reason we are now releasing a permanent unicorn garter into our collection. (Hayley, thank you oodles for the inspiration + emoji! You literally made our entire February!)

Bridal Boudoir Garters for Jennifer Williams Photography

The beginning of February went off with a bang when Jennifer Williams of Jennifer Williams Boudoir sent me the prettiest photographs from a recent bridal boudoir shoot that she did using our ivory pearl toss garter.

The timing could not have been more perfect with Valentine's Day sitting smack dab in the middle of the month. I means, seriously, nothing says I Love You more than a sizzling bridal boudoir session set in a sea of creamy linen sheets and high-quality lingerie.
