    Custom Spotlight: Kaci Vrabec's Mother's Shirt Transformed Into A Wedding Garter Set

    Just finished: La Gartier bride Kaci Vrabec custom paisley shirt and Fleur De Lis wedding garter set. Oh, did I mention art deco too? That too. This garter set was so incredible on so many different levels. I barely know where to begin. Here is the story behind what is possibly the prettiest "something blue" wedding garter set EVER created: the blue paisley fabric that you see on the back of her keepsake garter and the body of her toss garter were taken from a shirt that once belonged to Kaci's nana. Kaci lost her grandmother not too long ago, and wanted to have something on her wedding day that was symbolic of her shining personality and kind heart. When I heard this, I knew right away that this was a project that I wanted to be apart of. So, Kaci shipped me the Paisley shirt and we set to work with the #LoveTransformation project right away. (If you follow us on instagram, then chances are you saw the video where I was cutting up this shirt with Poison by Bell Biv Devoe blasting in the background.) 
    The final product came out STUNNING!! Truth be told:  The elements of Kaci's design were so multi-layered and meaningful that I can't think of anything else to do but bullet-point them!     Kaci is saying "I Do" in New Orleans, so we decided to add a tiny Fleur De Lis pendant to the center of her toss garter to symbolize what will forever be the location of the happiest day in her life. *grabs tissues*

    I had a feeling that Kaci was not going to want to toss her custom Fleur De Lis toss garter, so I created a third sparkling design for her that would work well with her gown and also impress all of her guests. (But not so special that she wouldn't want to toss it. )

    The tiny silver Fleur De Lis pendant was an Etsy find. My favorite part? The shop we purchased it from was located in NOLA.

    My favorite detail? The tag from Kaci's Nana's shirt was sewn to the inside of her toss garter as a special, hidden detail.

    Custom Garter Spotlight: Kayla Shudy's Vintage Blue Butterfly Heirloom Wedding Garter Set

    When I first spoke with La Gartier bride Kayla Shudy on the phone, I instantly felt a connection to not only her as a person but also her story. I could tell that Kayla was sweet, honest, and lived her life with a full and open heart. As I listened to her talk, I sensed that her garters were going to be amazing-- and they were. By the time we had finished her phone consultation, I felt more determined than ever to create a wedding garter set for her that reflected not only her beautiful heart but also her story. Why? Well, I can write it down here in words but I don't feel that I will ever truly be able to convey the beauty of Kayla's custom wedding garter set. The back story: Kayla's mother passed away in 2011, shortly after meeting Kayla's soon-to-by hubby. When Kayla got engaged, she knew that she wanted to be able to have her mother with her in some way on her wedding day, but wasn't sure how. When she heard about our custom designs, she reached out and asked us if she could send us a sleeve from her mother's wedding dress so that we could use the fabric within her wedding garter design. (We call these designs "repurposed" wedding garter designs and I adore them with all of my creative being.)
    So, Kayla shipped us the sleeve to our Atlanta studio and we got to work right away. Little did I know that the garter set that would be born of our meeting would end up being one of the prettiest custom garters this side of the Mississippi. 
    The elements of Kayla's design were so multi-layered and UNIQUE that I can't think of anything else to do but bullet-point them! Scroll through the photos below to learn more about deeply meaningful custom wedding garter set.

    The butterfly that you see at the center of Kayla's toss was special due to the fact that it was Kayla's mothers' favorite symbol. Not only that, but it also served as Kayla's "something blue."

    The best part? This locket was a vintage find, so it also serves as Kayla's "something old".  I am literally dying to know what Kayla is going to decide to put inside the locket on her wedding day.

    The back band of Kayla's keepsake garter was embellished with dozens of tiny sequins and pearls that were taken from the sleeve of her mother's vintage wedding gown. *grabs tissues*

    I knew that Kayla was not going to want to toss her vintage butterfly locket garter, so I created a third REAL toss garter for her that featured a silver "O" charm at the center (which, as you can guess, is the first letter of her new last name.)

    La Gartier bride Kayla Shudy's wedding garters inside of our signature box. I have no words to describe how honored I feel to be a small part of such a significant day in Kayla's life. I can only hope that we made her mother proud.

    Custom Garter Spotlight: La Gartier Bride Kelley Romero's Romantic Southern Bayou Inspired Wedding Garter Set

    Just finished: La Gartier bride Kelley Romero's Romantic Southern Bayou wedding garter set!! This special design was created using pieces of Kelley's mothers' wedding veil and gown. (If you watch our videos on instagram, then you will probably remember the beautiful vintage veil we had sitting on top of our studio lamp for 2 weeks. Her veil made our entire room feel more alive and beauty-infused, similar to how one single vase of roses can bring a room to life.)
    Originally, Kelley had requested a garter that would be romantic, whimsical, girly sparkly and unique to match her Hayley Paige gown but after we spoke via telephone, she and I decided to also add elements from her mother's wedding day ensemble. This took the significance of her garter set from a 5 to a 10 in my opinion!!! The best part?? All of the embellishments that we pulled from the vintage veil were IRIDESCENT, which couldn't have worked more perfectly with Kelley's love of Hayley Paige!!!

    All of the tiny flowers that you see came from the crown of her mother's veil. This took hours upon hours of hand-sewing and cutting pieces off of Kelley's mothers' original veil, but to be completely honest, it was a blast!!  
    The color of the light champagne pink fabric under the flowers was created to match the layered skirt on her gown as well as the pink ombré Sara Gabriel veil that Kelley will be wearing. (i die)

    The two bridal buttons on either side of her "Hayley" toss garter were taken from her mother's gown.

    The swarovski crystals that we placed inside the flowers and in little "cluster" arrangements on the back band of her garter were done in a mixture of clear and opal stones to match Kelley's other wedding accessories.

    My favorite part? Kelley sent me the original tag from the inside of her mother's gown to be incorporated into her garter. Talk about a meaningful "something blue"! (or should I say "something navy blue"?)

    Because Kelley ended up adoring her Hayley toss garter, I decided to make her a third, simple pink velvet toss for the garter removal part of her reception. The flower at the center and the little iridescent sequin leaf in the middle were both taken from the crown on her mother's veil. 
    Kelley, I could go on forever about how incredible these garters turned out, but what I can't communicate in words is the feeling that came over me when I had your wedding music playing while slowly hand-sewing the details on the back band. Something truly magical happened in those moments, like weaving your love of Mark together with your love of your Mom and...maybe, just maybe, the love you will have for your future daughter.
